Gus Arriola was an ambassador of Hispanic culture for generations of kids reading comic strips. Gordo and Pepito and Haleys Comet and Possy Gato and the Poet were all welcome at our home, Special guests that taught as well as entertained so that by the time I was a teenager I knew Guss newspaper culture as well as I knew our own neighborhood.

Of course it was all Gus with his kind heart and his keen sense of humor and his experience in animated films that led to the type of design genius that Gordo was famous for this is a very special Sunday, Gus would do one a year featuring the tequila worms and their night out on New Years Eve I think he had the most fun with these because he could get a little off-color in the strip without the syndicate getting too upset Simply because it was the holiday. The three tiered strip is in excellent shape, its been framed and holds a place of honor in our studio for years But now its time to find a new home. Its a wonderful artifact of Gordos long history in the newspapers and would make an excellent addition to anyones bar, library, collectors room or theater, a piece of Ariola holiday humor, impossible to find these days almost 50 years after its publication. This would make an excellent and unexpected gift to anyone with a Gordo collection or someone looking for a piece to display in an upscale bar.... This is an important and historic addition to any collection, a prime example of an artist influencing the path of popular culture...
